Shop for DS Lite

Finding a secondhand DS Lite won't be too hard if you know where to look.  Here are some suggestions starting with my most preferred options.
  • Ask a friend
  • Ebay
  • Car Boot Sales
  • Selling websites such as Gumtree or Schpock
  • Used Video Games Retailers, such as CEX or Game
  • Pawn Shops

Finding Donors – the broken DS Lites you can combine to make a working DS Lite

When looking for auctions or ads, look for faulty DS Lites with a combination of the following characteristics:

A complete DS Lite as cheap as possible

Individual parts are available but given the cost will include the price of shipping, this can be more costly than buying complete broken units and building up your own stock of spare parts.
If you've got spare parts, a missing charger or missing GBA slot cover won't be a big deal.

A good description of the fault and with as little damage as possible

If you're seeing a DS Lite that has broken screens, hinges and won't power on that is going to have a much lower chance of successful repair than a DS Lite with no broken hinges and a top or bottom screen not working.
If the seller isn't clear about the reasons why the DS isn't working, then it is hard to know if it will be an easy repair job.
Photos are helpful especially if the seller has powered on the DS Lite.  Do the photos accurately reflect the information given in the item description?

The seller has a feedback score

Remember to check the seller's feedback.  For eBay auctions, an item where the seller feedback score is 0 could be a risky bid.

UK Based Auction

Shipping times are longer for a DS Lite to be shipped from overseas.  The shipping costs for overseas items is likely to put the auction price up, so I always stick to auctions in my own country.
